Basics of Cryengine 2
This Tutorial will teach you the simple and most basic things in cryengine 2. By: Raifer25

Hello and welcome to my first tutorial... This tutorial is about the basic things in cryengine (not everything tho). so Here on the first picture we see somethign that might look like a word document, i marked 3 things thats good to know about.

New: this is the button you press when you want to create a new map
save: this button is kinda obvious.
save as: is kinda the same but in save as you got more options when you save.

So in picture 2 you can see i have pressed File --> New and then you just type in your level name ( just dont use spaces in the name)

So the next few pictures will be about the tools!.

In picture 3 you can see i have selected the Select object tool... this tool is not used so often, other than selecting the object you want to rotate/move or what ever you wanna do :)

Image

In picture 4 you can see i've selected the select and move tool... when you select this tool and press on a object, there will be 3 arrows. these arrows controlls wich direction you move the object when you press and hold on them and move the mouse. (Z is normally up and down)

Image

In picture 5 i have selected the rotate tool, again when you press on the object with this tool selected there will appear 3 arrows they controll wich direction you rotate the object :P

Image

in picture 6 i have selected the scale tool. as you can see the table to the left is normal and the other one i have used the scale tool on to raise it. so thats basicly what it does, experiment with it a bit.

Image

Now we will go over to axes

In picture 7 you can see i have selected the x axis. when this axis is selected the object can only move left or right (or up and down i dont actually know its allways different but it will only move 2 ways)

Image

In pic 8 its the Y axis it basicly does the same just another way

Image

in pic 9 its the Z axis wich moves up and down

Image

Picture 10 is the XY axis its both axis combine so if you just press in the corner of the little box that appears when you click your object you can move it as free as you want just not upwards unless you press the arrow that points upward :).

Image

in pic 11 the tool is Follow Terain, this tool is very Very usefull. if you for exampel make an river or waterhole(watervolume) then make sure you press this tool cause then you are sure you place the river or waterhole on the ground and not under ground and in some wierd form ^^.

Image

In picture 12 its the snap to grid tool... i would leave this tool on 1 and not pressed on cause its anoying as hell to build with but very usefull if you want exact presicion of multiple objects.

Image

In picture 13 its the roll up bar this is the most common thing you need to know... this is where you find all objects and vegetation.

Image

So that was my basic tutorial and i hope you liked it and found it usefull.

Nice tut only thing you forgot to tell is that you'll have to restart the editor, make basic flat terrain and generate textures ^^
